 Communicate issues with liaisons so they can provide education

  • Reach out to utilities directly if no resolution with locates

Large Projects

  • Meet onsite

  • Provide advance notice

  • Provide a priority list for where locates are needed first

  • White-line large areas to reduce impact on locators

  • Establish relationship/communication with locators

Positive Responses

  • Compare responses to site

  • Look for indicators in addition to checking flags and paint

  • Contact locators/utilities if problems with markings

  • Include images as well as proper locate descriptions

  • Submit noncompliance reports

Submitting Tickets

  • Locate description needs to be specific and clear

  • Avoid using company/industry jargon so everyone understands instructions

  • Double check directions N, S, E, W and distances (50ft vs. 500ft) to ensure accuracy
